Introduction:

The OCEAN Partnership Grant is designed to support large-scale collaborations that aim to deliver lasting change to the marine environment and coastal communities. By fostering meaningful partnerships between medium to large organizations and locally-led entities, this grant seeks to scale effective solutions that protect marine ecosystems and alleviate poverty.

Eligibility:

  • Lead Organizations: Medium and large-scale organizations capable of partnering with local entities.
  • Partners: Local, in-country organizations working directly with coastal communities.
  • Project Focus: Initiatives that protect the marine environment and reduce poverty.
  • Exclusions: Government agencies and inter-governmental organizations cannot receive funding directly but are encouraged to partner with eligible non-profit organizations.

How to Apply:

  1. Application Process: The application involves a two-stage process:
    • Stage 1: Submit an initial proposal outlining the project concept.
    • Stage 2: Selected applicants will be invited to provide a more detailed proposal and engage in discussions with the Expert Committee.
  2. Submission Platform: Applications must be submitted through the OCEAN Flexi-Grant portal.
  3. Language: Applications should be submitted in English.
  4. Deadline: Ensure submission by March 24, 2025.

Assessment Process/Matrix:

Applications will be evaluated based on:

  • Project Impact: Potential to deliver significant and lasting change to the marine environment and coastal communities.
  • Partnership Strength: Depth and authenticity of collaboration between lead and local organizations.

Selected applicants will engage in discussions with the Expert Committee to further assess project feasibility and alignment with OCEAN’s objectives.
